The Sofaer International MBA curriculum is comprised of academic coursework, co-curricular events and excursions, professional development programming, international experiences via a study-trip and exchange options, and extracurricular student activities on and off campus. The following provides an overview of how these components fit together to comprise Sofaer’s comprehensive curriculum.
Academic Curriculum
At the heart of the Sofaer experience is our academic curriculum, a five-module program that combines required courses with a wide variety of elective-course options. The core curriculum – making up roughly half of the credits Sofaer students need to graduate the program – covers the essential topics of a top-tier MBA education including: economics, finance, marketing, management, ethics, organizational behavior, strategy and accounting. Students complete their remaining course requirements via Sofaer’s wide-range of elective course offerings.
With advisor approval, students may take certain courses outside the Sofaer curriculum, including courses taught by other Recanati MBA programs as well as courses outside the Recanati School of Business. In addition to the Sofaer International MBA, Tel Aviv University offers more than 10 international MA programs. This flexible and multi-dimensional structure enables students to tailor their year of study, optimizing a general MBA framework.
Professional Areas of Focus
The Sofaer program offers 3 areas of professional focus: Business & Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Finance. These academic concentrations include additional required courses, identified elective options, and tailored Professional Development activities.
Professional Development
Parallel to the program’s academic studies and unique to the Sofaer program is the multifaceted Professional Development Curriculum. This curriculum consists of a required Career Management course, soft-skill development sessions, monthly company visits, guest lectures, interest group activities, career mentoring sessions and access to many networking opportunities. The goal of this curriculum is to help our students 1) identify their area and geographic region of professional interest, 2) equip our students with the necessary soft skills to optimize professional opportunities and 3) connect our students to the companies and individuals relevant to their professional aspirations, in Israel and abroad.
